Customize QR colors and logos with confidence

QR puli ·

Learn how dot contrast, white backgrounds, logo size and error correction affect colorful QR codes, with practical checks before sharing.

Keep the pattern readable

A scanner needs to distinguish the modules from the background and locate the three finder corners. Choose colors that stay distinct from the paper. Our ten presets use white backgrounds, and the color editor constrains choices to preserve contrast. Black remains a useful fallback when printing conditions are uncertain.

Use the logo as an accent

A center logo covers some encoded information. Error correction can tolerate some damage, but that does not mean an arbitrary percentage of the QR can safely be covered. Keep logos compact and recognizable, and never cover the finder corners. A simple mark often survives small prints better than detailed artwork.

Treat contrast protection as one check

QR puli uses a conservative color-contrast guard and a decoder check before export. A text contrast ratio is not a complete QR scannability standard. Pattern density, gradients, image compression and the camera also matter. Test the exact downloaded file and final print.

Make the destination accessible too

Print a short readable URL or another contact method beside the QR where practical. Tell people what scanning does, such as “View the menu.” On social media, include a clickable destination link as well as the QR image. This helps people using screen readers or viewing the post on the same phone they would use to scan.
